Insider’s guide from a local lady

22 March 2017

Hello. I’m Steph Fulke and I’m the Digital Content and Design Assistant at Lake District National Park. I make visual and digital content that goes out on our social media channels and come up with fun engaging ways for people to be involved in the social media campaigns. When I’m not working on the social media side of things I’m helping our graphic designer to implement brand concepts, a few print jobs and setting up new templates. I think my job is a lot of fun and I love that it’s for the Lake District National Park. I’m super lucky to work and live in the lakes.

My favourite place in the Lakes

So I’ve been asked what is my favourite place in the Lakes - here are just a few!

  • If I want a challenge I’d climb Fairfield Horseshoe and arrive back in Ambleside for a rewarding pub lunch and pint.
  • I’m hugely into my arts and crafts so I find Grizedale Forest a mash of both outdoors and artistic qualities. There’s a gallery at the visitor centre and some fantastic sculpture walks to choose from. My favourite is the ones with the mystical music boxes hidden in the trees that make you feel like you are walking in some pixie-enchanted forest.
  • A gentle stroll around Grasmere or Rydal water.

My top tip - group walks

I really recommend organised group walks for the social benefits. That bit of banner and getting to know someone really helps to forget about how much puff you are out of. Our volunteers run a fantastic range of guided walks all over the Lakes - you can check out our event calendar here.
