Our guided walks led by local experts are carefully selected to show you the very best of our spectacular landscape. Here are five great reasons to join one of our inspiring walks this year.
Book onlineWe believe the Lake District deserves global recognition. Here’s why we’re bidding for World Heritage status:
Treat your mind and body to an outdoor workout while soaking up fabulous views. Walking is a great way to improve physical fitness and mental wellbeing.
We’ve routes to suit everyone from easy, leisurely strolls to high fell hikes. Many are bookable but you can just turn up on most walks.
Find your way with confidence on the fells. Your GPS might not always work so we always recommend that you know how to use a map and compass. Our special beginner sessions are designed to be fun and informal while you learn these essential skills.
Day sessions run from Grasmere (central lakes) and Ullswater (north east lakes) in stunning scenery.
Our women only courses are very popular and our Practise Your Skills days will allow you to test your new-found skills.
Our gentle Brockhole Family Rambles are short walks designed to introduce young people to route finding. Our leaders will show you how to use a map and compass as well as tips on what to take and wear on a walk. Walks run on Wednesdasy at 11am and 2pm throughout August.
Or join us on one our popular family strolls. Visit magnificent Cathedral Cave, as featured in the film Snow White and the Huntsman, or Wander in Wasdale – for many, people it’s Britain’s favourite view!
Experience magnificent Ullswater both on and off the water. Our friends at Ullswater Steamers are offering you a special half price fare on our joint walk and sail guided walks.
We're also introducing walks on the new Ullswater Way. Join our guides who will take you round the whole 20 mile route over two days:
July 29 and 30, August 12 and 13, September 23 and 24.
There’s so much more on offer so browse our events calendar and book your next adventure with us.
All our guided walks and navigation days are led by volunteers who are passionate about the National Park.
All money raised on our activities, including donations, goes directly towards training and supporting our volunteer guides to help more people discover this spectacular landscape.
