If you're looking for a family adventure, then we've got it all wrapped up! Here are some fun ideas for holiday activities for young and old alike at Brockhole on Windermere, Coniston Boating Centre and on our fab volunteer-led family guided walks.

Brockhole is our Lake District Visitor Centre, right on the shores of beautiful Windermere. You can make an entrance and arrive in true Lake District style by boat with Windermere Lake Cruises or by car, bus, rail or on foot. Brockhole is approximately half way between Windermere and Ambleside, just off the A591. Follow the brown signs for Lake District Visitor Centre. SatNav: LA23 1LJ.
Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets, the award-winning attraction is a must see. Fly down the 250m zip and create your own woodland adventure! Pre-booking recommended.
You can’t visit the Lake District without going out on a lake, follow signs for Brockhole lakeshore and we’ll soon fix that. Pick from rowing boats, canoes, kayaks and paddleboards, the choice is yours!
Well for Brockhole we’d have to say bike, all ages welcome. Helmets and bikes a plenty are down by the lakeshore. Find out more about bike hire at Brockhole.

Head over to the adventure playground, play mini golf or enjoy a pony trek or trail around the grounds. There’s even a soft play area inside for the little ones.
Make time to relax and enjoy tea and cake in the Brockhole café or grab a slice of pizza on the go at the Lakeshore café.
Coniston Water is one of the most beautiful stretches of water in the Lake District. Nestled at the foot of Coniston Old Man, Coniston was the home of the artist, John Ruskin, and the location for Donald Campbell’s string of world-record speed attempts.
Open all year round, Coniston Boating Centre lies on the shores of Coniston Water, an easy half mile walk from Coniston village: Coniston Boating Centre, Lake Road, Coniston, LA21 8EW.
Follow in the wake of Swallows and Amazons and explore the lake by motor boat, rowing boat, sailing boat, sit-on-top kayak or canoe. Show off your balancing skills, splashing about on a paddle board. We’ve got wheelchair accessible boats – just roll up the ramp and off you go!
If you’re feeling energetic, why not hire a bike from Coniston Boating Centre. Take your pick from lots of exhilarating routes, whatever your ability.
If you prefer an easier pace, take in the stunning lake views at the Bluebird Café, right on the shoreline. Buy Donald Campbell memorabilia or feed the ducks as you watch the boats go by.

Our gentle Brockhole Family Rambles are short walks designed to introduce young people to route finding. Our leaders will show you how to use a map and compass as well as tips on what to take and wear on a walk. Walks run on Wednesday at 11am and 2pm throughout August.
Or join us on one our popular family strolls. Visit magnificent Cathedral Cave, as featured in the film Snow White and the Huntsman, or Wander in Wasdale – voted Britain's favourite view!
