Ever lost your way?…Yes, don’t worry we’ve all done it!
Whether you are brand new to walking and have just jumped into your boots for the first time or perhaps you’ve just got a little bit lost with a map that seemed oh so simple when you checked it at home.
The Lake District is an amazing place, with peaks topping 900 metres, lakes stretching for miles, 13 valleys and more than 200 fell tops in between – it’s no wonder a little bit of knowledge goes a really long way!
We like to think that here at the Lake District National Park we know our stuff and even better than that, we have a whole team of expert walk leaders out there just ready and waiting to point you in the right direction. Our team love the lakes and they want to share some of the best walking routes out there, so that you can see this beautiful place from all the best angles. No Instagram filter required.
Introducing the Lake District National Park Guided Walk programme, an ultimate list of over 200 walks, all led by a volunteer guided walk expert.
Leave the map and compass at home, the route is planned - all you need to do is pack your bag, get your gear on and meet at the start point.
We run walks from Easter to end of October and they are literally all over the park, whatever your fitness level we have something to suit you.
You could find yourself exploring ancient caves, paddling in the sea, staring up at wild waterfalls, or scaling world famous peaks. Impressive.
Each walk is graded so you can pitch yourself at the right level depending on whether you are looking for a relaxed pace or a bit of a challenge.
Choose a guided walk whether you are going solo, with your other half, your family or a group of friends – the idea is you will meet people in your group anyway, that’s all part of the fun. It’s a sociable experience with plenty of chance to chat, take photos and pause at stunning viewpoints. All our walk leaders are friendly and full of knowledge so as long as you check our Walker's Checklist list you’ll be well on your way to having a great morning, afternoon or day out! Don't just take our word for it, read what other people have said about our guided walks on Tripadvisor.
He's just one of our fantastic volunteer walk leaders. There’s nothing John and the team don’t know about the Lake District. You'll learn all sorts of amazing facts at different points on your walk. No excuses for not having some top facts to share over a well-earned glass of one of the Lake District’s finest ales (after your walk!).
