Cumbria is very much open and our wonderful volunteer guides will help you discover and explore the spectacular Lake District landscape. By boot, boat or bike, our events will take you to stunning vistas and secret places. Take a look at what’s on offer and start planning your dream trip.

Our guided walk leaders love to share their passion for the Lake District. Our walks programme covers the whole of the National Park - from Borrowdale to Bowness, and Coniston to Keswick.

Alfred Wainwright was one of Britain's most famous fell walkers.
Wainwright's Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells continue to inspire walkers the world over. Wainwright described 214 fells in these iconic guides. Completing all 'Wainwrights' is on many a walker's 'to-do' list.

Wordsworth was an avid walker and gained inspiration for his poetry from his beloved Lake District.

Our annual Ullswater Walking Festival showcases this magnificent valley.
Choose from a variety of walks, from lofty high fell hikes to low level leisurely strolls. Our steamer walks are not to be missed with a special £1 steamer fare.
Join photographer and writer, Rob and Harriet Fraser, on their seven walks to spectacular trees in Cumbria as part of The Long View. Gain insights into trees, ecology and landscape heritage. Walks start in June and run through to October. The Long View is a project that celebrates journeying, trees and the stories of the land around them, and considers current debates about landscape management. Photography and writing created over two years will be shown in a touring exhibition from summer 2017.
The Lake District National Park is proud to be one of the main project partners. Other organisations supporting the project are Friends of the Lake District, National Trust, Woodland Trust, Arts Council England, Natural England and Forestry Commission England.

We run basic navigation courses in Grasmere and Ullswater. We’ll supply the map and compass.

For children taking their first footsteps in the fells, Mini Trekkers is a gentle nature-inspired family activity walk for ages 3 to 8.
