Leaves turning red, early sunsets and pub roast dinners. This could only mean one thing, autumn is here! The Lake District is known to help improve your health and wellbeing. In fact, back in the 18th century, the National Park was recognised by renowned poets to be able to soothe the soul and restore the spirit. Submerge yourself in the great outdoors and experience the uplifting feeling. Take a look below at our top tips.
The Ullswater Way is a 20 mile walking route that goes around the whole of Ullswater lake. You can do the walk in one go, or do a smaller section combined with a boat trip or bus ride. This is great fun for the whole family.
Discover the Lake District by boat, sit back and relax as you take in the breath-taking surroundings. From paddle boarding, kayaking to canoeing, our Coniston Boating Centre can help you enjoy the most of your water adventure.
With the evenings getting darker earlier and the Lake District having secluded valleys and remote fell tops, some of the darkest skies in the country is right here in the National Park. Find out where the best locations are for star gazing.
This year, more than ever, the value of our open spaces and scenic landscape to our health and wellbeing has become abundantly clear. What do you do when you're on the high fells in remote, rural area and you really need the toilet and there isn’t one available? You might think that the occasional alfresco poo is ok, but it takes twelve months to biodegrade and with 20 million people visiting the Lake District each year, there’s potentially lots of poo piling up in the National Park. Our area ranger, Marian Jones provides outdoor toilet tips, find out more.
